This is designed to strip the broadcast packets sent from your central server for whatever cable company you're on. You MUST have your cable modem directly connected to your PC in order for this to work. If you want to get a nice modded cable modem check out the group http://www.tcniso.net. You can get pre-modded cable modems there, or you can do the modding yourself, given you have the right tools.
Anyways, with this information you can sniff out other users MAC, Config file and TFTP Server IP (the 3 critical piece of info you want) on your node/gateway. Be warned that you probably do not want to use these peoples MAC addresses when it comes to cloning your modded modem, considering there would be two HFC MACs coming from the same gateway. Try to find MACs from a whole seperate gateway, just run it on a friends machine local to you, and have him send the results.
So sum it up, you could have free cable internet and take someone elses configuration file and set your modem to that config file causing faster speeds or even slower if you really wanted.
